National Chiayi University (NCYU) has established a Smart Water Resource Management System integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all water-related programs. The system, developed under the project “Building of Smart Water Resource Management and Innovative Water-Saving Technology,” funded by Taiwan’s Water Resources Agency, connects 88 smart water meters and 3 water pressure sensors across the Lantan Campus. Through this real-time digital platform, water usage data from each building is collected, analyzed, and displayed on an online dashboard. The system automatically detects anomalies such as leakages or excessive consumption and immediately notifies administrators via a mobile app and LINE alerts for timely corrective action. All facilities and operational plans related
to water management are reviewed every semester by the Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Committee, ensuring continuous evaluation and optimization. This ICT-based management enhances precision in water allocation, reduces waste, and strengthens the university’s capacity for data-driven decision-making in sustainable campus operations, supporting SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
