In 2024, National Chiayi University (NCYU) established 17 international sustainability programs through academic cooperation, student exchange, and joint research with global partners. The university currently maintains partnerships with 136 sister universities worldwide, strengthening SDG-oriented collaboration in education, agriculture, and green innovation. Key initiatives include the 3rd Trilateral Sustainability Symposium with Chiang Mai University (Thailand) and Kagawa University (Japan), during which NCYU signed three new collaborative projects on low-carbon rice production, agricultural waste and biocircular systems, and hydrogen production via water electrolysis. In addition, NCYU launched the Southeast Asia ILP Sustainable Aquaculture Learning Program, promoting hands-on sustainability education and cross-cultural exchange among ASEAN students. Other programs include the Spring SDGs Course for Japanese partner universities, dual-degree and internship collaborations with the U.S. and Japan, and joint research in biodiversity and special education with Korea and Indonesia. Together, these initiatives demonstrate NCYU’s commitment to advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through integrated global sustainability action.
