NCYU Joins NUST’s USR and ESG Forum to Showcase Sustainable Organizational Collaboration
National Chiayi University (NCYU) has established a comprehensive institutional framework to coordinate sustainability across all levels of campus governance. The university’s sustainability efforts are primarily managed by three dedicated units:
Environmental Protection and Safety Management Center (EPSMC) – A university-level office comprising two divisions: Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety. The center manages environmental conservation, waste treatment, energy saving, and carbon reduction, and conducts campus-wide safety education. It also organized the National Water Resources and Energy Conservation Symposium, promoting nationwide collaboration on sustainability.
Office of Sustainability Development and Social Responsibility (OSDSR) – Supervised by the Vice President, this office integrates sustainability policies, USR projects, and community engagement. It coordinates with all departments to align academic, operational, and governance strategies with the SDGs.
Center for Corporate Sustainability and Management (CCSM) – Established in 2024 under the College of Management, the center enhances ESG education through training, certification, and consultancy. It signed MOUs with the Chiayi County Environmental Protection Bureau, Daher Environmental, and Arise Certification to expand cross-sector collaboration.
NCYU also joined the ESG Assistant Manager Certification MOU hosted by the Commerce Development Research Institute and participated in the NUST USR & ESG Forum, demonstrating institutional cooperation and integration of sustainability education. Through this three-tier structure, NCYU ensures systematic coordination, effective implementation of sustainability policies, and long-term advancement toward SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
