National Chiayi University (NCYU) utilizes Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to plan, implement, monitor, and continually enhance its campus transportation management system. ICT-based tools are applied across all campuses to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable mobility. The university has installed a License Plate Recognition (LPR) system and 24-hour security access control at every campus gate. This system automatically records vehicle entries and exits, monitors parking data, and helps regulate traffic flow. Data from the LPR system are reviewed each semester by the Vehicle Management Committee to optimize mobility planning and parking management. To enhance user convenience, electric shuttle bus stops are equipped with real-time arrival information displays, while the “iChiayi” mobile app allows students and staff to check electric bus schedules and dynamic route data. The YouBike mobile app also provides real-time online station and bicycle availability maps, supporting last-mile connectivity for commuters. All ICT systems are regularly evaluated and updated in collaboration with the Chiayi City Government to align with smart-city transportation data platforms. These integrated monitoring and evaluation processes improve operational efficiency, reduce emissions, and support decision-making for sustainable transportation planning.
Through continuous system upgrades and performance reviews, NCYU demonstrates a strong commitment to data-driven mobility management, aligning with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
