Every semester, the University sorts out unused bicycles on campus and opens them up for students and staff to claim. The following are other programs implemented to reduce the number of staff and students driving into the campus and indirectly decrease the parking area. Transportation programs designed to limit or decrease the parking area on campus are described as follows:
1. Public Transit Partnerships: The university collaborates with the Chiayi City Government to set up YouBike (2.0) on campus, and all the buses entering the campus are electric.
2. Carpooling and Ride-Sharing: The university has set up 24-hour i-Rent shared car rental services and established carpooling Line groups. The university has also introduced electric vehicles for on-campus shuttle services.
3. Pedestrian-Friendly Zones: From 2020-2023, we have converted some parking areas into pedestrian zones or plazas to encourage walking.
4. Limiting parking zones
5. Increase the electric shuttle bus frequency.
6. Increase parking fees
Although reducing parking areas is challenging, we have tried to keep working on the goal.
